Operations Manager (Salt Lake City, UT)

On behalf of our client, LightArt, we are looking for an experienced and confident Operations Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations on the plant floor while increasing production and revenue. A qualified candidate will manage scheduling, oversee daily operating reports, and increase production by providing leadership and carrying out strategic plans. As a strong leader with an analytical mind and excellent interpersonal communication skills, an ideal candidate will have a solid background in Lean Manufacturing.

LightArt, a 3form company, is a custom lighting fabrication and design studio headquartered in Seattle that manufactures high-end light fixtures using seamless and sustainable materials. The light fixtures serve a variety of applications including beautifully crafted sculptures, design-centered fixtures using 3form’s varia materials, acoustic shades and fixtures, and many more in the Architectural and Design community across the globe. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor all operations and processes
  • Prepare operating reports and budgets
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety regulations
  • Ensure all compliance needs are met
  • Manage scheduling for a fully operational team
  • Oversee daily floor operations
  • Develop strategies to increase productivity and production
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, and train and develop associates in these principles
  • Oversee all shipments, incoming inventory, and storage operations
  • Optimize productive time for employees by eliminating unnecessary processes
  • Practice conflict resolution among departments and employees
  • Report and track expenses to reduce costs
  • Analyze production metrics and data to determine areas to improve
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure all legal requirements, company safety procedures, and local & state health & safety regulations are met
  • Create and implement changes to improve current processes and reduce costs
  • Perform frequent inspections and audits of work processes
  • Research and gather client and customer feedback for ways to improve products
  • Collaborate with management and line production staff to achieve most efficient and accurate quality assessments
  • Present progress reports to executive management

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years previous Plant/Operations Management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
