Tax Manager

The Tax Manager position will assist with overseeing the team to provide support and leadership that ensures
all polices, processes, and procedures are being practiced while achieving a high level of internal and
external customer service and accountability. A successful candidate will be one who is committed to the
long-term growth of Pennell CPA, and their own individual growth. This person will embrace change in a

Essential Duties + Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax returns for all business entities
  • Prepare and review tax returns for individuals
  • Utilize staff to prepare for and facilitate client meetings
  • Ability to exceed client expectations regarding deadlines, opportunities, etc
  • Plan, supervise, and complete routine engagements to ensure compliance and professional
    standards
  • Effectively delegate work to staff according to their experience, capabilities and capacity
  • Supervise and mentor staff, and senior accountants
  • Identify key technical areas of growth and development for the team
  • Train and develop team members on a regular basis
  • Provide ongoing informal review points to team members
  • Understand, follow, and hold the team accountable to the processes and procedures in place that
    ensure coordination, collaboration and success
  • Assist with sustaining a culture that is fun, healthy, vibrant, hardworking, focused and provides
    opportunities for growth
  • Become an early adapter of change, and influence others on the team to adapt as well
  • Represent the company at community functions and business groups
  • Develop new client contacts and relationships beneficial to the firm; recognize opportunities to
    provide additional services to existing clients
  • Achieve performance measures as outlined in budget
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications + Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in public accounting
  • Strong GAAP Accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of M – Adjustments and reconciliations
  • Understanding of basic valuation and M & A language and concepts
  • Experience with accounting software programs; QuickBook, Sage, CCH Axcess, Thomson
    Reuters CS Suite
  • Relevant certification (e.g. CPA, CMA, EA)
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Ability to manage, train, motivate and practice accountability
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
