Senior Human Resources Generalist

On behalf of our client, Gift of Life Michigan, we are conducting a search for a Senior Human Resources Generalist who, in support of the company’s mission, vision and core values, will provide assistance to the Director of Human Resources and the organization in the areas of talent acquisition, employee relations, and benefits. This position will be held to a very high standard in terms of confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions + Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle recruitment: work with hiring managers to identify recruitment needs, source candidates, participate in interviews, provide support and recommendation to hiring managers, ensure compliance with onboarding requirements
  • Oversee the GOLM Core Values Alignment Team, which provides cross-functional support during second interviews
  • Establish creative hiring strategies, including opportunities for increased community involvement and a diverse candidate pool
  • Participate in the Company’s DEI Committee: Better Together
  • Educate new employees on Company benefits offerings, the enrollment process, and core policies during biweekly New Hire Orientation
  • Proactively execute the strategy for employee engagement, including positive employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution, and team building; Identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Drive Performance Management, serving as the point person for managers and employees on performance coaching, policy interpretations, guidance, proper documentation, and participation in performance discussions as needed
  • Manage termination process and establish procedure for gathering exit survey data
  • Provide day-to-day support and supervision for Human Resources Generalist 
  • Review and approve Personnel Action Forms, ensuring compliance with applicable policies 
  • Manage Recognition & Longevity Program
  • Assist with internal audits of HR records to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedure, as needed
  • Assist with employment policies and procedures to ensure consistent and compliant application
  • Collaborate to streamline processes and organization improvement initiatives

Required Knowledge + Skills

  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Function well in a professional team environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Use standard office equipment & Solid experience with Microsoft Office programs/Teams 
  • Strong understanding of talent acquisition practices and ability to execute recruitment strategy to support departmental and organizational needs
  • Experience administering DEI initiatives 
  • Experience with administering health benefits, COBRA, FMLA, ADA and retirement programs
  • Experience with employee relations, engagement, and performance management
  • Understand employment law and regulatory systems in connection with benefits law
  • Excellent communication skills-written, oral and interpersonal, including strong presentation skills
  • Speak clearly and persuasively in challenging situations to all levels of the organization
  • Proactive with the ability to take initiative; Actively seek improvements and drive to completion
  • Solution oriented critical thinker
  • Maintain a motivated and positive attitude

Education and/or Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field and 5-7 years in a HR Generalist role  
  • Demonstrated experience executing talent acquisition and employee engagement strategies.
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
  • Strong understanding of HRIS systems, equal or similar to Paycom

 

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • DEI experience, particularly related to inclusive hiring strategies
