On behalf of our client, Vista Maria, we are conducting a search for a Director of Residential Services who will be responsible for the overall development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of agency residential programs. This position serves on the senior leadership team and provides the strategic leadership, administration, and management of all residential treatment programs as assigned. They will be held to the standard of fulfilling these duties in accordance with the Agency’s mission statement, policies and procedures, professional Code of Ethics, State of Michigan licensing, and Council on Accreditation (COA) standards.
Essential Duties + Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Supports the Agency’s strategic planning efforts by assisting in the external and internal scanning process, determining program treatment themes and trends to ensure that the Agency remains the premier residential treatment facility within the State of Michigan, all fiscal issues that relate to the program, and implement all procedures as required.
Leadership
- Provides leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all treatment programs including residential programs.
- Directs key managerial staff in the formation, monitoring, and modification of annual operating plans and goals to achieve the Agency’s annual goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership and direction to all Clinical Unit Managers in the implementation of agency programs according to professional practice standards. Provides performance feedback and evaluation, coaching, mentoring, and problem resolution on an ongoing basis.
- Oversees development and implementation of program budgets, procedures, and staffing patterns to ensure cost-effective operations management of the treatment programs.
- Regularly participates in supervision and actively participates as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and leads Residential Leadership Operations meetings.
- Stays informed of current practice developments within the profession and uses education and training opportunities to ensure continual professional competence
- Oversees and ensures residential scheduling and staffing ratios are met daily per contractual requirements and policy standards.
Quality and Compliance
- Responsible for ensuring residential care program compliance with agency, professional, accrediting (i.e. COA), funding, licensing standards, and legal requirements.
- Partners with the Director of Integrated Behavioral Health to ensure treatment program outcomes, logic models, and treatment philosophy are consistently and reliably practiced, evaluated, and modified as necessary to ensure that the highest quality of care and outcomes are achieved for our clients and families.
- Develops and implements continuous quality improvement initiatives and methods.
- Ensures that campus and building maintenance plans meet the government regulatory ordinances and that the physical work areas meet the needs of all treatment personnel.
Quality and Compliance
- Acts as the Agency liaison with the professional community, and referral sources and performs other key inter-corporate representative functions and activities in support of agency operations.
Miscellaneous
- Partners with the VP of Academic Programs and Clara B. Ford Academy personnel to ensure that youth receive the highest quality education and achieve academic performance according to our Agency standards.
- Supports the campus safety efforts and ensures staff compliance.
- Demonstrates personal integrity and professional demeanor in accordance with the ethics of the Agency and profession.
- Performs duties or other related tasks as directed or required by the Chief Integrated Behavioral Health Officer.
Qualifications + Requirements
Minimum Required
- Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
- Three (3) years post-degree experience in residential child caring or placement organization with specific experience in the delivery of individual, group, or family counseling services.
- Five (5) years of progressive supervisory/administrative experience in a social service or human service organization.
- State of Michigan Professional Clinical License.
- Computer literate with demonstrated knowledge of automated information management systems related to developing, monitoring, and managing social service programs.
- Demonstrated ability to interact positively in a culturally diverse environment.
Preferred
- Evidence of advancement and understanding of social services, social work as a professional practice in general, and the field of child welfare in particular.
- Prior program development and new program implementation experience.
- Experienced in grant program implementation and monitoring.
- Computer literacy with demonstrated knowledge of information technology and management systems related to the administration and management of social services programs.
