Habitat for Humanity of Kent County envisions a world where everyone has a decent place to live. When the broad community is engaged in addressing the urgent need for affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization, we all become less vulnerable and more resilient. In bringing people together, Habitat Kent practices a philosophy of a hand up, not a hand out and builds on existing community assets: financial, physical, natural, human, social and spiritual.

Habitat for Humanity of Kent County is seeking an Executive Director to lead the overall strategic and operational leadership of the organization. We are looking for a proven leader who can balance external visibility with internal management responsibilities to achieving the overall success of Habitat for Humanity of Kent County.

The Executive Director provides leadership, strategy and direction toward the achievement of Habitat Kent County’s mission, vision, values, goals and objectives with a strategic focus on building a sustainable organization and building impact at the levels of community, sector and society. Leadership should be focused on a participatory asset-based approach to neighborhood revitalization, creating impact through Habitat Kent’s model of developing a variety of housing types in target neighborhoods, leveraging strategic collaborations, empowering and providing education for homeowners, and catalyzing equitable development. The Executive Director will also uphold Habitat Kent’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and continue to find ways to implement DEI efforts in all of its work.

Demonstrating a servant leadership culture, the Executive Director leads the departmental directors to ensure all departments are operating successfully and collaboratively and in compliance with Habitat’s bylaws and articles of incorporation. The Executive Director also serves as Ambassador of Habitat for Humanity of Kent County to the public, all stakeholders, the board of directors, Habitat Michigan, and Habitat for Humanity International.
